Why doesn't the ownership map exactly match the title plan?
Why doesn't the ownership map exactly match the title plan?

Site plans and the ownership maps aren't always the same.

The title plan is the most accurate map for any site. It is a legal document that will stand up in court. We'd recommend to buy and review the title plan early on when doing land assessments to avoid potential problems later down the line.

The ownership boundaries layer is based on Land Registry’s ‘index map’. This is the most accurate boundary map available that can be digitally integrated into software like LandInsight.

This ‘index map’ was intended to be like an index in a book to get you to the right place, not a precise map with precise boundaries. However, over the years the index map has become much more accurate, and therefore much more useful. But it is not a legally binding document in itself.
